Big Noise, the award-winning music firm founded in 1990 by Al Gomes and A. Michelle will celebrate its 24th anniversary this year.

In the past year, Al Gomes and A. Michelle’s achievements included music icons The Beach Boys hiring Big Noise to run the band’s successful publicity campaign that won them their very first Grammy Award for Best Historical Album for their box set ‘The Smile Sessions.’ In the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ 50-year career, The Beach Boys had never won a Grammy Award from the voting members of The Recording Academy. That all changed on February 10, 2013 at the 55th Annual celebration when music history was finally made. The news sent ripples around the world. The New York Times declared, “The Drought is Over!”

Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson and box set producers Alan Boyd and Dennis Wolfe accepted their Grammy Awards with words of thanks to The Beach Boys, extended family, and Big Noise.

Al Gomes and A. Michelle also headed the publicity team for Gregory Porter, winning him his first-ever Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album for his CD ‘Liquid Spirit.’ He shared the win with engineer and mixer Jay Newland.

Al Gomes and A. Michelle also worked on promotion campaigns for Joe D’Ambrosio Management’s producer, engineer and mixer clients including Grammy Award nominees Tony Visconti (David Bowie), Frank Filipetti (Dionne Warwick, Motown the Musical), Jay Newland (Gregory Porter), Lawrence Manchester (Dionne Warwick), and Eric Robinson (Taylor Swift).

Big Noise assisted in getting the word out about new jazz releases from Grammy Award nominee Geoffrey Keezer, Tom Wopat (‘The Dukes of Hazzard’), multi-Grammy Award winner Cheryl Bentyne (The Manhattan Transfer), and Mark Winkler.

Other accomplishments include:

Big Noise oversaw the release of recording artist Megan Nicole’s debut single ‘B-e-a-utiful’ which helped lead to her being signed to Interscope Records. Al and A. Michelle managed the entire project of the single (which had worldwide success) and the relaunch of Megan’s official website.

Big Noise artist Brittaney Brannock won the fourth annual Grammy Foundation and MusiCares Teens Make Music Contest. She attended the 56th Annual Grammy Awards including a special backstage tour that takes place while artists rehearse for the live broadcast. Al and A. Michelle made the initial introduction of Brittaney to The Recording Academy with the submission of her EP to The Grammy Awards.

Christian recording artist Ron C. Walters credited Al and A. Michelle’s artistic direction, publicity work and music industry outreach with landing Ron his recording contract with TMJ Music Group / Grace Records. Big Noise has collaborated with Ron since 2006.

Also, under the artistic direction of Big Noise, several artists experienced their most acclaimed and best-selling CDs ever. In addition, Big Noise commemorated working for over 20 years with artists Suzanne Lord and Lester Hirsh.

2014 will prove to be another exciting year for the company. Many projects are planned including co-producing five-time Grammy Award winner and pop icon Dionne Warwick’s newest single, and publicity for Beach Boy Blondie Chaplin’s newest recording project, The Young Presidents.

Big Noise, based in Providence, RI, is an international artist development, music production, and music marketing firm. They have assisted with the release of 300+ recordings of diverse musical genres by independent and superstar recording artists.

Al Gomes and A. Michelle have managed many of the projects from concept to completion including helping the artist set a budget for each project, choice of the artist’s material and producer, hands-on A&R direction in the studio, art direction of recording package, and the publicity, marketing and distribution of the release. They also assist with the branding of an artist, image, their business strategy and decisions, and the overall direction of their career.

Over the last 24 years, Al Gomes and A. Michelle have worked with many artists including Christina Aguilera, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Katharine McPhee, Jim Brickman, Bela Fleck, Kittie, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Little Anthony and the Imperials, Jay Geils, Paul Doucette (Matchbox 20), Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Freddy Cole, multi-platinum producer Shelly Yakus, actor/directors Andrew McCarthy, Tiffani Thiessen, Stephen Collins, William Shatner, and many great independent artists.

Grammy Nominees The Beach Boys team up with Al Gomes and A. Michelle of Big Noise

Music icons The Beach Boys have enlisted Al Gomes and A. Michelle of Big Noise to run the band’s publicity campaign on behalf of their recent Grammy Nomination for ‘Best Historical Recording’ for their box set ‘The Smile Sessions.’

This could be an historic moment in the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ 50-year career, since The Beach Boys have never won a Grammy Award from the voting members of The Recording Academy.

Big Noise’s Al Gomes and A. Michelle have worked on a variety of projects with The Beach Boys over the last 6 years including:

- Assisting Capitol Records with additional marketing and publicity for the box set, ‘The Beach Boys U.S. Singles Collection – The Capitol Years (1962-1965)’

- Serving as project consultants and assisting Sony Music with marketing and publicity for the release of Beach Boy Dennis Wilson’s remastered solo masterpiece, ‘Pacific Ocean Blue’

The amazing yet true saga of The Beach Boys is well-chronicled, and by any standard it’s one of the greatest musical stories ever told. Brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, cousin Mike Love and school friend Al Jardine brought much joy and harmony to millions, and in turn became an international sensation. As America’s first pop band to reach the 50-year milestone, The Beach Boys have composed, recorded and performed music that has become the world’s favorite soundtrack to summer via stellar vocal arrangements and songs celebrating the beauty and lifestyle of their native Southern California.

Impressively, The Beach Boys continue to hold Billboard / Nielsen SoundScan’s record as the top-selling American band for albums and singles. They are also the American group with the most Billboard Top 40 chart hits (36). ‘The Smile Sessions,’ released to worldwide critical acclaim was heralded as 2011’s #1 Reissue of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine.
